I was recently asked if I was interested in reviewing the Tamrac Anvil Super 25 backpack.
I get lots of similar requests and turn most down due to lack of time (or interest).
But, every so often, the request is for a product that I think is interesting, think you will find interesting or simply holds a good position in its niche.
The Anvil Super 25 meets all three of those criterion and I said yes.
There are a mind-numbing number of camera backpacks on the market today –

carries 501 of them as of review time (including single-strap sling bags).
However, the majority of these are not designed to carry the really big lenses.
If the Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM Lens needs to be carried, remaining options are very few.
I have long carried my 600 f/4 in a Think Tank Photo Airport Security V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag and
while this case has some advantages over the FirstLight 40L, weight and backpackability are not two of them.
As you probably guessed from the name, the FirstLight 40L is designed to be as light as possible and as a backpack, it is made to be very comfortable while carried on the back.
As indicated by the 40L, this pack’s storage space is voluminous.
With MindShift gear in the name, quality construction is the expectation.
I’m of the belief that one cannot have too many camera cases and backpacks, but … the number of models being introduced seems overwhelming.
However, every so often one catches my attention.

Probably few would think that I didn’t have enough camera cases (touching on CCCHD),
but still, a new backpack being delivered makes any day feel like Christmas day.
While I have favorite photo subjects, I stay very generalized in my pursuits, enabling me to evaluate gear in the way it was designed to be used and allowing
me to relate to those pursuing a wide range of subjects.
Because I carry a variety of kit sizes, ranging from a single camera and lens up to multiple cases of gear requiring a

to locations ranging from my front yard to sporting events and from commercial shoots to the remote wilderness, I utilize a wide variety of packs.
I don’t get time to create reviews for all of them, but minimally attempt to highlight some of the best coming through.
I have used a lot of great camera cases and backpacks over the years, so it takes a lot to impress me.

In addition, this may be the most comfortable backpack I’ve carried to date.
